As Owner & Operator of Sounds Simple I have a lifetime of
experience in and around this field. I started playing in bands professionally
at 16 and spent some years both touring the Maritimes full time as well
as doing weekend gigs. I worked in the audio- video retail industry
for over 10 years during which time I was also doing side work as disc
jockey for events and bars as well as videographer and film transfer.
At this time I also did technical work for live theater.
Following that, I spent 11 years in Toronto working for CORUS radio,
specifically Classic Rock Q107, Edge 102 and AM 640. The amount, level
of work and experiences I had in Toronto alone I feel should definitely
give me advantage by comparison to the competition of the immediate
area. I was responsible for coordinated all outside station events large
and small, from huge trade shows, concerts and sport events to local
charity events. The work would include type of set up, part time staff,
technical ( sound lighting, broadcasts etc.) permits, contracts, signage,
contest ideas and execution, prizing, MC or host work, on air talent,
voice work for commercials, fleet maintenance and graphics (14 units).
Also station liaison to public, celebrities, community groups and much
more. I have worked with some of the biggest names in the world of entertainment,
sports and politics. Examples would include being responsible for coordinating
weekly live radio broadcast for Toronto Maple Leafs and Argonauts to
technical production of live performances and interviews i.e. AC/DC,
Aerosmith, Rush, Tragically Hip, Metallica, UFC, etc.
I have also been an in ring announcer at live WWE events, news correspondent,
and have done live broadcasts from outside the country. These are just
a few examples and at many times I would have several of these things
taking place at same time or day.
In 2000 I was voted by the Corus Radio staff as employee of the year
and I guess there was good reason for it, if my name was on it I made
it the best I could with the resources available and left with a perfect
record having delivered on literally thousands of events and broadcasts.
Since returning home I decided to try and put my experience and interest
in music, sound & lighting to good use by starting a small audio
production company, which hopefully will grow to having the capabilities
to eventually handle large scale outdoor concerts. Initial services
are for DJ and smaller venues needing sound for live bands, comedians
etc. Plans are to reinvest income into more equipment making it possible
to do larger local venues such as stadiums and outdoor venues properly
without the “BIG CITY” costs . If all goes well expect a
local recording studio and booking agency down the road.
I believe in a quality product and professional service. Sounds simple
will evaluate your situation and provide the best quality it can for
the best price it can.
